Hakan Çalhanoğlu Teams Up with Gaming Veterans for Web3 Climate Initiative

My Lovely Planet (MLP), a Web3 game developed by industry veterans behind hits like Candy Crush and Fortnite, has launched a real-world reforestation project in Turkey. The initiative, dubbed "Çalhanoğlu Forest," partners with football star Hakan Çalhanoğlu and his wife Sinem to restore wildfire-damaged land in Kuşadası.

Unlike traditional play-to-earn models, MLP operates on a play-to-impact framework. Players fund tree planting through in-game achievements, with each completed level translating to real-world saplings. Çalhanoğlu has personally financed the first 10,000 trees—equivalent to 50 soccer fields—marking phase one of the ecological restoration effort.

The project blends casual gaming with climate tech, tracking planted trees through partnerships with local environmental organizations. Turkish pine and oak varieties are prioritized for their resilience in fire-affected regions.
